Simpering – smiling in a silly manner; He saw the simpering, boisterous girls from south of Market
Palpitant– trembling, throbbing; Through the swaying, palpitant vision, he stared at the real woman
Indelicate– improper; Swinburne fails because he is indelicate
Surreptitious – stealthy; He had to glance surreptitiously about and learn how to accomplish each new thing
Aesthetic – artistic; -He was feasting his love of beauty at this table where eating was an aesthetic function
Trepidation – fear; He essayed it with trepidation
Apparent – clearly revealed to the mind or the senses or judgment
Anarchist – an advocate of the abolition of governments
Tension – feelings of hostility that are not manifest
Quote – a passage or expression that is cited
Venture – proceed somewhere despite the risk of possible dangers
Hostile – characterized by enmity or ill will
Advice – a proposal for an appropriate course of action
Incident – a single distinct event
Proposal – something suggested, as a plan or assumption
Glorious – having great beauty and splendor
Earnestly – in a serious manner
Destination – the place designated as the end, as of a race or journey
Triumph – the exultation of victory
Mutiny – open rebellion against constituted authority
Stamina – enduring strength and energy
Drama – an episode that is turbulent or highly emotional
Emboss – raise in a relief
Savage – a cruel or vicious person
Phony – a person who professes beliefs that he or she does not hold
Ignorant – lacking knowledge of a specific field
Sorrow – an emotion of great sadness associated with loss
Consciousness – an alert cognitive state in which you are aware of yourself
Sinister – threatening or foreshadowing evil or tragic developments
